From Coast to Coast

(By Corpus sweater and skirt, Posso x Volcom swimsuit top, Sienna Ray handbag (special code to shop 25% off entire purchase: "SiennaRaySummer"), 80%20 shoes)

I am enjoying being home on the west coast way too much right now! I love NY but you can beat the weather here. It's brilliant right now and all I want to do is be outdoors by the water. Surprising I know, considering I'm terribly pale and look like I've lived in a twilight setting or something compared to everyone else on the beach with their bronzed bods and sprayed-on tans! So yeah, there's me. I've got my pink striped sweater SUN PROTECTION SUN PROTECTION over my favorite little Posso x Volcom bikini top. It's got a retro feel to it and comes with the cutest super high waisted bottom (not pictured hehe). It totally reminds me of something my mom used to wear here in Santa Monica when she was just a hot young babe! This sunny, clear day left me sooo lazeballs that I nearly fell asleep on the grass along Ocean Ave. It felt pretty good.

Batty Natty

(80%20 shoes, White + Warren tee, We Are Rubbish shorts, Bally bag)

Photos by Raych of That's Chic

I had to call this post "Batty Natty" because that was the title of the folder these images were on, sent by the amazing Raych of That's Chic! She was in NYC for work and so of course we had to get together! During her stay, we went out with friends for an evening dinner, but then the weather turned on us and it started raining like crazy. The thunder and lightning actually created an awesome view from her hotel windows, which overlooked all of Manhattan! Us dorky girls had a night in, watched comfort television like The Cosby Show, all while getting tipsy on our wine. She is the funniest girl I know and I'm so happy we get to got together on the east coast! We snapped these photos by Cooper Square in the East Village, where we stumbled upon this awesome looking doorstep. It was an old building and the black paint was chipping off, but it definitely had that classic New York charm. I always feel like wearing stripes now, it is such a New York thing! The shoes are perfect for when I need to wear heels in the city. With the thick sole, they feel like sneakers! Now that I look at these pictures, I can see why Raych labeled me as BATTY NATTY! Welcome to the dark side :)

Swimfan

(Volcom swimsuit and skirt, Little Darlings Hawaii necklaces)

Here I am at my home in California, by the pool, rocking a few of my favorite new Volcom pieces. I flew back to LA this week to continue my work with Volcom. I just shot the Spring '12 campaign yesterday and am currently designing pieces for the Fall 2012 collective. I'm super excited! I'm focusing on key pieces like skirts, dresses, and tops! It's a totally new experience, but the whole design process seems to be coming naturally for me. How crazy is it, to get to wear my own clothes?! Right now I am rocking the Posso x Volcom one piece swimsuit designed by none other than Marylouise Pels and Vanessa Giovacchini, the stylish DJ duo! I'm obsessed with their swimwear designs this season. This one has a very sexy low back. I love this for an afternoon by the pool with nothing but a sheer black skirt and some of my favorite seashell jewels straight from Hawaii.

Travel Staples

(Vintage blouse and hat, SOLD Design Lab pants, Velvetine Paris bag, Cole Haan sandals)

Whenever I travel, I always throw a classic vintage white button down in my suitcase. It's my must-have and looks good with pretty much everything. Another travel staple? One of my vintage hats. I've been living in this brown one. Works wonders too when I don't feel like putting on makeup or doing my hair :) I feel a bit like Indiana Jones meets Jane Goodall meets "I'm goin on a safari ride in the desert." I love it! And I'm all for the classic black skinny, but this faux leather pair adds a cool edge to this look. What easy pieces are in your carry-on suitcase?

Photographed by Altamira on Crosby Street

Photos by Craig Arend of Altamira: Modelsoffduty.com

Hallelu blouse, Forever 21 shorts, White + Warren jacket, Bronx shoes, Mango/Hallelu/Forever 21 rings, FEED Charity bracelet)

I've always gone to Altamira: Modelsoffduty.com to take inspiration from the gorgeous candid photos of top fashion models as they strolled the dreamy streets of NYC showcasing their own personal style. I was an avid reader way before I started my blog and so it's crazy that now I am also featured on photographer Craig's website! He shot me in the heart of Soho, on beautiful Crosby Street, just off Broadway. I was in the middle of castings and was sporting my new favorite rust colored shorts along with a dotted blouse and cargo jacket. I've never been one of those models in a black tank and skinny jeans. It's way more fun to get dressed while playing with proportions and colors!

Picnic Pretty

(Hudson Jeans, White + Warren blouse, Urban sandals, Free People sunglasses)

I think I just had one of the best weekends of my life here in New York. My friend Bonnie of Flashes of Style was visiting NYC for the first time and we had the best time! We started off in Williamsburg for a fun little picnic in McCarren Park, gorging on donuts to fulfill our cravings for anything sweet! There, I got to meet a lot of east coast bloggers who came for the meet up. They were all super sweet and have been following my blog for a while. It was nice to meet them face to face! Because it was such a warm day out, I went with one of my simplest looks: skinnies and a slouchy blouse, stacks of my favorite bracelets from home in Cali, and thick cat eye sunnies. I had Bonnie stay with me for the weekend and boy did I show her the real New York (crazy freight elevators, stinky subways, and evening stumbling upon the nastiest cockroach haha!) On a more pleasant note, I took her to Soho for an evening of great shopping and some of New York's best pizza. With the trains being completely wack on the weekends, we were basically stuck in transit all day long making getting from Williamsburg to Manhattan and back to Brooklyn a complete nightmare! It was like herds of cattle coming off the L train. It was completely exhausting, but a ridiculous amount of fun. I don't think Bonnie could have experienced a crazier time here in nyc! We ended up staying up late, watching Netflix over chinese takeout and booze, before dozing off and heading out for another day of fun. More photos of our unforgettably crazy weekend to come!

A Stroll Through Central Park

Taisa of AMAHZING has become one of my best nyc friends! This girl gets me in the New York grooooooooooooove!

    current obsession: stacked on bracelets!

    L'Wren Scott?! Check.

(Aplinestars by Denise Focil tank, Raven denim jeans, Juicy Couture scarf, Rachel Roy shoes, Vintage hat)

Okay, so these photos were taken on one of THE HOTTEST days in New York. It was hitting 100 degree and I was sweating bullets! It's hard to get dressed, let alone take photos, when the weather is super icky! But this day, I honestly had no idea how bad the weather would be and so I went out with jeans. Not the brightest idea, but I'm such a sucker for these rust colored pants! I think Taisa and I still looked pretty good though despite the bipolar nyc weather! I threw this little Juicy Couture scarf over my shoulders to spruce up my simple tank. It also looked super pretty just flowing in the not so breezy air that day hehe. But want to know what I live in here in New York? My new kicks! They are brand spankin new Rachel Roy slip on's and I'm obsessed. I've been wearing them nonstop. My feet have been so beat up from walking and taking the subway and so whenever I don't have to wear heels, I slip into these babies. The print and oooh so comfy cushion sole are pure perfection!
