Moving West

(Hudson Jeans, Vintage top, Kensiegirl sweater courtesy of Modcloth, Urban hat, Free People cuff, Vintage bag, Naya Shoes)

I've always really liked those old western movies: Cowboy hats, rugged boots, and scruffy men on horses! This is my interpretation of the western style. A little more feminine and modern than the usual cowgirl look with my new Hudson boot cuts and slouchy knit cardigan. I feel right at home in this comfy outfit amongst the trees and grass. All I really need is a horse to complete the look and ride on outta here!

Hmmm, Western. Halloween. Could have been a good idea for some sort of costume! But after such a busy crazy week, I knew I would end up a couch potato watching scary movies, and probably drifting off to sleep before any little kids even step foot on my porch! Yep, that's exactly what happened! Adios amigooos and hope you had a spooky Halloween weekend!

Bebe Video!

About a week ago, Dylana and I were asked to do a video interview for Bebe! We had a fantastic time trying on all the latest Bebe looks at the store on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. I stumbled upon some really cute frocks in everything from animal prints to velvet to sheer fabrics. There were many different shapes as well! Maxis along with some adorable body-con pieces. I ended up keeping the white dress I loved it so much! It was awesome to get to do this project for Bebe with my gorgeous sister Dylana! Even though we are so different, we have so much in common. Watch the video below! I hope you like it as much as I do!

Fun at Free People!

(Vintage blouse and shawl, Jessica Stam for Rachel Roy jeans, H&M Guns n' Roses tee, Promod Blazer)

My trip to Philadelphia was once again a blast! Spent a few days shooting web for Free People! Here are some behind the scenes shots taken at the office. I had an amazing time shooting looks! It was great to see everyone again from the catalog shoot as well! Took a few snapshots of my cute hapa mamas from design: Oanh Doan and Kris Chau (check out Chau Chau's blog HERE to see more of her art)! As you can see, there is a major height difference hehe!

Also, there are my "model off duty" style pics I found on the Free People blog! I've been meaning to wear this vintage fringe shawl. It's very bohemian and once of my favorite pieces to throw over a neutral look! Whenever I travel for work, I always find myself in super skinny jeans and simple tops with a few accessories thrown in. Just easy, light pieces that fit in my small carry-on bag.

It was awesome working in studio and seeing the way FP layers their pieces. Very boho chic. I love how the Holiday collection features bralettes over thermals and dresses. I recently got myself a few of their bralettes just to try out the look! Here is a sneak peek at the new Free People Holiday catalog including an intro to Wee People (free people kids!). Absolutely stunning photography!

The Chill Bites

(Vintage Betsey Johnson dress, Promod blazer, Spotted Moth scarf, Vintage Bag, Cole Haan Boots)

Everyday it feels like it is getting chillier and chillier. I take walks every night and that's when you can really feel the chill biting you in the behind! This fall I am really diggin velvet. Black velvet in particular. When I found this vintage Betsey maxi dress about a week ago, I nearly fainted. It has a really cute open back as well (not pictured lol) so it's got a cool amish from the front, sexy from the back thing going on haha. And with this perfectly gloomy fall weather, I find myself bundling up in this cream circle scarf by Spotted Moth. It's just one of those pieces you have to have this time of year.

These photos were once again taken behind a nearby church. It was pretty much deserted and gave off a really isolated feel. Perfect for taking a few chilly day photos!

Right now, I'm looking at my to-do list and kind of having a mini panic attack. So much to do! I've got to pack up for Philly and do a bunch of little things before I take off in the morning. But I look forward to a Sunday stroll in the local pumpkin patch...I love the October festivities! Check out my October inspiiirrattionn.
Chunky chunky scarves, long skirts, thick brows (don't even think of plucking them girls), and grungy jackets. you like?

Btw, much thanks to MyFDB (My Fashion Database) for the write-up on my blog! I really appreciate it. So happy to be your lil weekend read! Read about it HERE!

Stevie Style

(Vintage top and hat, Free People skirt)

Stevie Nicks has always been an inspiration to me. First off, I looove her sultry, husky voice. She also had really cool bohemian style...always rockin floppy hats, vintage tops, and maxi skirts. She has inspired me to whip out my best boho/stevie inspired outfit: vintage blouse paired with a floral skirt. Fun and crazy (the 60's Picnik setting helps too hehe). Now I just need some back up to "Edge of Seventeen," my fave Stevie song!

Besides my desire to be the next Stevie lol, I'm currently ecstatic that the weekend has finally arrived. This week has been insane. I've been busy running around town for school, work, and meetings. All in all, it was fun! But I am soo ready to sleep in. Next week, I'm going to be off to Philadelphia, working more Free People! I am stoked! LOVE LOVE LOVE Philly. and gotta love the cheese steak sandwiches! Will for sure take some photos. I promise to pack lightly!

Dotted

This past weekend I attended the Green Initiative show at the Sunset Gower Studios with Dy! It was a great humanitarian event to support eco-friendly, sustainable fashion. There was a cute runway show showcasing 4 different designers all with beautiful Spring 2011 collections. Too bad I didn't get very great shots of the show...those models walk so fast! Overall, it was a blast! I wore one of my latest vintage finds, this polka dot maxi dress along with my favorite booties and a vintage bag!

Gloomy Days

It has been so gloomy these past couple of days. The weather has been making everything weird. The sky is gray and all colors look a little faded. Not exactly my favorite time to take outdoor photos. I kind of just want to curl up with a good book or movie. Being the hibernating hermit I feel like right now lol, I decided to put together a little collage. Just a little gloomy weekend inspiration. I love every single photo here!
Leopard and smudged eyeliner. Red Hair. Menswear. Rustic Browns. And a little sunshine...we definitely need some of that.

Volcom Stone

(Volcom dress, Ayelet Shachar belt, Vintage sweater, Banana Republic shoes)

This dress is one of the newest pieces from the Volcom Summer '11 collection! It's girly, but the dark chain print gives it an edge which I love! It goes perfectly with all the warm colors that are dominating my wardrobe at the moment. One fall accessory that I cannot stop wearing is this waist belt by Ayelet Shachar. It was such a nice surprise hearing from this up and coming designer from Israel. Her leather designs are all handmade and will last a lifetime! I love a dainty little dress with some rugged leather and nubby wools!

Also, I got my hands on the latest Volcom summer 2010 catalog during my last shoot with the brand! Here are just a few images from the shoot. All were shot at Volcom's team house down in Newport Beach! It was a blast working with one of the most laidback teams! I love the results! I'll keep you posted on images from the next campaign that will be out next year!

Natural Setting

(ThreadSence cable knit sweater and snake ring, Rich & Skinny jeans, vintage hat, Stefane Kelian shoes)

This time of year I find my style gravitating towards chunky knit sweaters in warm beige shades. I'm currently living in this one by ThreadSence, one of my newest sponsors. It's really just an easy piece to throw on anyday of the week for work, class, and everything else in between. I look forward to sporting it more once winter really starts kicking in and I need something to cuddle with. Another denim label I'm a huge fan of is Rich & Skinny. They make anyones bum look slightly more attractive and legs all the more lean. then, you become rich and skinny. psych! just wanna see if you're still reading. woowee, i'm delirious on mondays.

Anyways, I hope everyone's week is off to a good start. My schedule is slightly scary this week but I'm trying my best to stay in track. I caught up on a lot of school work this past weekend and did some badass thrift shopping with Dy. Stumbled upon amazing maxi dresses that I look forward to wearing to some of the shows here during LA fashion week! Dylana is going to be covering a bunch of events and shows for The Fashion Spot and I'm going to be tagging along. I'm stoked to see the work of all the up and coming designers! It will feel refreshing watching the shows for a change instead of walking in them. Will keep you updated!

And for today's fall inspiration: grunge simplicity. worn in sweaters, crop tops, knee highs, with mini braids and flowers to top it all off. so much goodness packed into one little collage.
